The teams within Children and Family Services at Torfaen County Borough Council provide a range of services to support families to ensure children remain with their families and where possible, to participate in community activities. Inter-agency working is a significant feature of the Children and Family Services approach to service delivery and you will play a key role in working jointly with partner agencies and in working collaboratively in the development of new services. We currently have a vacancy in Children and Family Services for a Young Carers Social Worker. The successful candidate will be required to work in the Care & Support and Disabled Children's Team and be responsible to the Team Manager. As a Young Carers Social Worker you will:
Contribute to the service direction of the Torfaen Carers, involving carers and relevant agencies, partners and organisations.
Undertake Carers Assessments and Care and Support Plans to identify and respond to the needs of carers.
Promote general awareness of carers issues amongst a wide range of organisations across health and social care and to the general public, encourage and support multi-agency working, and identify and contribute to training on carer awareness for professionals.
Develop and support a network of local carers' groups to provide platforms for carers' views and identify gaps in service provision.
Support and supervise the Young Carers Community Support Worker and associated casual workers.
