The teams within the Children and Family Services division at Torfaen provide a range of services to support families to ensure children remain within their families where possible, ensuring that children&©s needs are being met appropriately. The Family Resource Team has a key role to play in meeting the objectives of the Children and Family Services division and provides a range of services which include supervised family time, specific pieces of direct work including a parenting support programme, family group conferences, parenting capacity assessments and a Young Carers service. The successful candidate will need to: - Co-ordinate and develop all the functions within the Family Resource Team associated with family contact to ensure that family time arrangements are planned, implemented and supervised appropriately. - Manage demand in order to maximise the resource through the scheduling of family time sessions, the allocation of rooms, and the direction of Family Support Assistants. To do this candidates will need excellent organisational skills, good communication skills and the ability to direct colleagues. - Contribute to the provision of statistical information related to family contact. This will include ensuring that relevant databases are kept up to date and reports on information are provided as requested by the Team Manager. - Assist in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the quality of contact services provided on an individual family basis as well as in relation to the wider service. - Oversee the induction and training of Family Support Assistants, as well as monitor performance to ensure their time is being used effectively. - Communicate effectively with parents, carers, colleagues and professionals.
