The focus of this role will be to establish a short-term interventions group within the PRU. The appointed person will work closely with secondary schools and other stakeholders. The ability to teach either English or maths up to GCSE level is desirable. The successful candidate must be resilient and creative, as well as committed to the development of high-quality teaching practices and high standards of achievement. They must be able to lead on teaching and learning across the curriculum, whilst actively supporting the SLT in developing and promoting school improvement. We are looking for:
Qualified and experienced teachers with QTS status
Excellent teachers who enjoy working with young people and are able to forge positive relationships with them
An excellent classroom teacher, who is also able to actively lead, take responsibility for and promote key skills, effectively tracking them across the curriculum

A “can do” approach to teaching with a passion for raising standards
The ability to support all children to reach their full potential, and become well rounded, well balanced, and confident, effective people

Torfaen PRU is a pupil referral unit (PRU) that offers a distinctive small school environment where each individual is well known, listened to, and encouraged to be the best they can be. Serving around 60 students (across a number of settings) enables us to maintain an inclusive and nurturing community atmosphere, where staff work with students to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to reach their full potential.
